On 16 November 2021, Cube Finance took part in the Lugano Finance Forum, presenting the session “The New Obligations of External Asset Managers (EAMs) as Authorized and Supervised Financial Intermediaries: Challenges and Opportunities.”
Held in Conference Room B, the event focused on one of the most relevant topics for the financial industry: the impact of the new Swiss Financial Services Act (FinSA) on External Asset Managers (EAMs) and the operational challenges associated with risk control and regulatory compliance.
During the session, the speakers discussed the new regulatory requirements, with particular attention to client classification processes, which in many cases had previously relied on paper-based documentation or files not directly integrated into operational workflows. The discussion highlighted how these activities now require structured, effective and auditable controls.
The event also addressed the monitoring of investment exceptions defined by clients and the verification of compliance with risk parameters derived from client profiling activities. These requirements clearly demonstrate how the digitalization of processes has become essential to ensure operational efficiency and compliance with the new regulatory framework.
Following an introduction to the legal and regulatory background, Daniela Baldoni illustrated the main regulatory aspects and the obligations arising from the new framework, while Paul Weber demonstrated how a well-designed IT infrastructure can support financial intermediaries in their day-to-day operations, transforming compliance requirements into efficient and integrated business processes.
